July: Empower Your Team

Let's SWOT!

At Empowered Nonprofits, we partner with teams of all different sizes and with varying levels of experience. We look at each organization from a bird's eye view and also work to understand the details to build a more efficient and productive strategy.

When an organization is looking to grow, we often conduct a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis. A SWOT is a great tool when we work with organizations on board restructuring, development plans, or a general organizational assessment. It allows us to capture key findings in order to determine priorities and essential changes.

Empowered Nonprofits performed our very own SWOT during our team retreat last week to assess our business and determine how we can scale. The experience was well-worth the effort and below we share the top takeaways.

SWOT Top Takeaways...

The value of a horizontal culture. We pride ourselves on having open communications with our entire team when it comes to our values, culture and goals. This openness has existed from the beginning and it has allowed our team members to feel equally invested in the growth of the company.

Happy employees attract happy clients (and vice versa). We believe in the power of positive attitudes and energy. When we jump on an internal or client call there is always "catch up", laughter and positive thinking. We care about each one of our Empowered family members beyond the scope of work. When teams and clients are cared for, then good work will ensue.

Work always needs to take real life into account. After our team retreat, we ended the day with a yummy and fun dinner with Empowered team members and their partners. It is important that we know what is going on with each other outside of our work hours. That knowledge allows us to honor that we are all of our parts - which is ultimately crucial to the well-being, commitment, and overall success of the company.
